This will be a brief introductory post on how my thoughts on leveling a rogue in the MMORPG I am currently playing, World of Warcraft. You should first of all choose a Class that suits you. I personally always loved going for the more sneaky stealthy thief like class when i play RPG’s, so the choice to go for rogue for me was very easy. To this very day, even though I have played WoW for several years, I still find joy every now and then just sneaking around following unsuspecting players, enemies or allied players, and see what they are up to.
Enough of me rambling about how awesome rogues are though. So you want to level a rogue, well all the builds are viable to level with to some extent, I personally would recommend leveling up as Combat or Assassination though, not subtlety. Since the damage of subtlety depends a lot on being behind the target you want to kill. And no matter how much you jump or run around , you will never be able to get behind an NPC you have aggro off without crowd controlling it. And using energy on crowd control is not good for your damage output either. So that leaves us with Assassination and Combat.
Combat might be the slightly stronger option in some ways, at least for damage out put. This is mainly because of Blade flurry, which lets you increase your damage output by close to 100% whenever there is 2 or more enemies within melee range. That being said, Assassination has one thing going for it that Combat does not, at a very low level you get access to a Runspeed bonus through talents. A lot of people disregard movespeed bonuses, but in raiding, in pvp, and in leveling, it helps out a very large amount. (Especially in PvP and while leveling.) If you look at how much time you spend running while leveling you will see that 15% runspeed increase can save you a very large amount of time on your level up time.
